Bearing a signature. Affixed to marble base. "The Sergeant" is Remington’s smallest sculpture and one of his most commercially successful. The bust of a weathered, mustachioed Rough Rider commends the cowboys who volunteered for service in the First United States Volunteer Cavalry during the Spanish-American War of 1898.
