AFTER GIAMBOLOGNA, BRONZE SCULPTURE, H 74", 'MERCURY', ON A MARBLE PEDESTAL (H 106" OVERALL):The Roman god depicted on one foot, supported by a zephyr, with one arm raised toward heaven; medium brown patina, no apparent markings. Measures approximately 74"-75" from the base to the finger tip, raised on a separate mottled marble pedestal, H.31 1/2", Dia.16". Overall height is 106", approximately. Giambologna, Flemish, 1529-1608. Lacking caduceus in his left arm; wear and scratches noted to the patina; also, a fine crack below his left foot. The marble base has several small chips along the edges, a few have been filled in.
