After the original by Bartolome Esteban Murillo currently in the Wallace Collection. Depicting Jacob being abandoned in an empty well by his brothers. Signed in the lower right "H Fryer fecit. 18--", the last two letters in the date are no longer visible due to slight loss to the extreme lower right corner. In period carved wood and gesso gilded frame. Provenance: A Mount Clemens, MI private collection. The House Galleries, Sheffield.
