Unsigned. Carved pure white Carrara marble. Depicting siblings dressed in Revolutionary era costumes. The young boy, with a small drum below him, blows a horn as he lights a miniature cannon for a 4th of July salute. The sister stands next to him covering her ears for the expected report of the cannon. A finely detailed sculpture with leaves and flowers along the base and children's stick figures carved into the tree stump that the cannon rests atop. No apparent signature. Included with the sculpture is a custom green carved marble pedestal. The pedestal has a relief eagle clutching a banner in it's beak that reads 'E Pluribus Unum' with 'Fourth of July' below. This lettering, along with 13 carved stars, are highlighted with gilt. Provenance: Property from a prominent Grosse Pointe Park, MI private residence.
