AMERICAN SCHOOL OIL PAINTINGS. 19TH C., PAIR, 21" X 17" & 21" X 16", ALEXANDER HAMILTON'S CHILDREN:Unsigned; the portrait of the girl is on canvas laid down on board; the portrait of the boy is painted on bevelled wood panel; gilt period fames.
As viewed under UV light in the unopened frames: there is an area of overpainting coming from the shoulder of the girl and going up along the left edge of her hair into the background; portrait of the girl is on canvas laid down on board, has overall craquelure and also stretcher bar cracking of the paint; the portrait of the boy is UV clean; frames are slightly nicked and show wear.
