The carved oak frame offers reeded edges with urn form terminal supports on the armrests, accented with panels of burl wood inlay. The sofa is rendered in modern upholstery encasing down feathers. Terminating on four legs. Wayne Pratt suggests the sofa may be made by S. Willis or J. Martin of Salem, Massachusetts. Circa 1750-1805. Provenance: Purchased from Wayne Pratt American Antiques & Accessories, Marlborough, Massachusetts.
The frame shows honest edge wear and nicks throughout from age and use. The upholstery would benefit from cleaning.
