Brass nailhead trim along the top and edges. The front having the initials J. P.. Interior lined in period wallpaper. Wrought iron hardware. Provenance: The consignor is a direct descendant of Albert Gallatin (1761-1814) and William A. Buckingham. Gallatin was elected to the house of Representatives in 1795 and became Secretary of the Treasury in 1801. Buckingham was the 41st. Governor of Connecticut in 1858.
