ANTONIO ZOPPI (ITALIAN1860-1926), OIL ON CANVAS, H 20", W 26", THE ENCOUNTER:'Courting scene' with 18th c. style males and a female; signed lower left; impressive gilt museum quality frame.
As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame: black lights clean; noticeable scrape/gash, c. 2" long, becoming a tear and occurring in the lower part of the upper body of the lady; similar fairly well repaired curving tear, c. 2" long, with a patch on the back, occurring in the center right; stable craquelure; not lined; minimal, very slight damage to the impressive frame.
