ARMAN, ACRYLIC, BIKE PARTS AND PAINTBRUSHES ON CANVAS "BREAKING AWAY", H 47" L 64":Armand Pierre Fernandez 1928 - 2005, Franco American artist. "Breaking Away" 1992 acrylic on canvas with brushes, bike parts and wood support. This work was exhibited in "Il Giro Di Arman", Ferrara, Italy exhibition in 1992. Arman was the exhibiting artist for the DIA Centennial. This piece was titled after the film BREAKING AWAY (1979 Best Screenplay Oscar) which features Indiana University's annual "Little 500" bike race. It was created in Arman's studio "Bidonville" in the south of France in 1992, then shipped to Bloomington, Indiana where it was displayed and enjoyed by the IU community for twenty years.
