ATT. ANDREW GEDDES, OIL ON CANVAS, 19TH C., H 35", W 27", MRS. JEREMIAH GREATORAX:A.R.A. 1783 - 1844. Unsigned. Depicting a half portrait of a seated Victorian woman. In a carved gilt wood frame. From the Estate of Daniel Clancy, Voltaire Place, Grosse Pointe Farms. Frost and Reed label on stretcher.

Condition

Superb quality and detail; expertly restored.  As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame:  c. 30% overpainting in, but not necessarily limited to, the following areas:  a spot in the top of her hair, in her right shoulder (from the viewer's perspective) and going down her right arm, at the bottom of the figure and along the bottom of the painting, in the LL corner and in the background in the upper right; overall fine craquelure is stable; lined (20th c.).
