ATTR. TO JOSEPH W. GIES (AMERICAN, 1860-1935), YOUNG WOMAN WEARING A BONNET, H 28 1/2", L 22":Attributed to Joseph W. Gies (American, 1860-1935). Depicting a young woman wearing a bonnet. Oil on canvas. Unsigned. Written in marker on verso: "Property of Ida Witty / Niece of JW Gies" in the upper left, and "Gies - 3,200.00" in the upper right. Canvas: 28 1/2" x 22".

Condition

There is a layer of dust and grime covering the canvas. The canvas has an area of fraying damage at the top of the young woman's bonnet. There are chips, nicks, and loss to the paint on the frame throughout.
