ATTRIBUTED TO JOSEPH WHITING STOCK (US, 1815-1855), OIL ON CANVAS LAID DOWN ON BOARD, CIRCA 1850, H 30", L 26", PORTRAIT OF A YOUN:No apparent signature. Frame: 34" x 30 1/2".
There is a few missing flakes of paint in isolated areas, as well as some bubbling to canvas along the right side of the piece. There is a scratch by the girl's left arm. Having overall craquelure. (Under UV light: c. 8% overpainting mainly, but not exclusively, in the filled-in cracks in her face (especially) and her body; canvas has been laid down on board.)
