Frost and Reed label reads "M. Simons, A Cluster of Fruit & Flowers, Registered Number 1318". The painting was examined by H. Lester Cooke, Curator of Painting at the National Gallery of Art, February 19, 1964. Photographs of the painting were submitted to the Netherlands Institute for Art History. H. Lester Cooke arranged for analysis of the chemical composition of pigments at the Smithsonian Institution in 1966. Painting was at Conservation Analytical Laboratory of the Smithsonian Institute from February - June 1966 and the pigments were analyzed by Dr. and Mrs. Charles H.
