Depicting flowering Papaver flore multiplici incarnato  and Papaver flore multiplici purpurascente plants from Basilius Besler's landmark work, Hortus Eystettensis (Garden at Eichstatt), first published in 1613 in Eichstatt, Germany near Nuremberg and later in 1640 and 1713.  Tempera and watercolor hand colored engraving with Latin text verso, published Eichstatt and Nuremburg. Bearing Coat of Arms of Augsburg watermark (M. 177).  Plate Size: H 18.75" W 15.5" Sheet Size: H 21" W 16.5"
