CHINESE BRASS INLAID PEWTER SWEETMEAT BOX, 19TH C., W 17":A pewter and brass inlaid box with removable lid in butterfly form, decorated with blossoming flowers, phoenixes and sparrows, fitted with 9 porcelain dishes with a turquoise ground. Measures approximately H.10" x 17" x 2". From the collection of Mrs. G. G. Scranton, international traveler from the late 1800's to the mid twentieth century. Friend and patron of Mrs. Dagny Carter, a notable scholar, influenced this collection. The lid of the box is slightly bent inward. There are surface scratches and signs of use overall.
