Mahogany tray with glass top, brass handles. Metallic thread embroidery of a three claw dragon mounted on black silk. According to a former employee of Gump's in San Francisco, this item may be part of a collection of embroideries that were imported to the United States around the year 1948 by Mr. Richard Gump. This collection included textiles and embroideries from the imperial court in China. Some of these textiles were made into jewelry trays once they arrived in the United States.
