Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Wu Shuang Pu Cong Vases, 18th C., Qianlong Period, Featuring Hua Mulan, H 9.5'' W 4'' 1 Pair

Each vase having four panels painted so that each panel is the mirror opposite of the panel on the opposing vase. The panels depict four characters from the Wu Shaung Pu (Table of Peerless Heroes), Including: Hua Mulan, the 4th - 6th c. Chinese warrior princess: bearing a gong as an archer. Wu Zetian (Empress Wu of the Zhou) de facto ruler of the Tang dynasty from 665 to 705. Liu Chen (220-265), Prince of Beidi, bearing a golden Yue (heavy blade on pole). Lady Xian (516-602), also known by her title "Lady of Qiaoguo", bearing a golden Qiang (spear on pole). Each vase having Qianlong nian zhi red underglaze seals on the undersides of the Qianlong dynasty (1711-1799).
