Painted ironwood panel inlaid with carved jade, teakwood, semi-precious stones including quartz, amethyst and lapis lazuli. The inner frame border is decorated with cinnabar and ten cloisonne panels. The outer teakwood frame bears bronze mountings at the top and bottom. The back of the panel is decorated with a gilt landscape painted in the style of the Chinese artist Tang Yin. Provenance: Estate of Francis W. Feeney of Muskegon, MI by descent to the family. Purchased in 1963 from the Missions De Scheut, Brussel, Belgium. Export affidavit states that the missionaries acquired this item as a gift around the year 1900. Export documentation and additional research by Mr. Feeney will be available to the successful bidder.
