Clarence Darrow Signed First Trade Edition "A Persian Pearl", C.L. Ricketts, Chicago, 1902, H 9'' W 5.75'' First trade edition of "A Persian Pearl" by Clarence Darrow. Published by C.L. Ricketts, Chicago, 1902. Inscribed, signed and dated by the author. Inscription reads: "To Miss Vera Hamilton, In remembrance of a very pleasant evening at Book Cadillac. From her friend, Clarence Darrow. Nov 19th 1925". Having a cloth spine with decorative boards of PP and scrolling vine designs. Mr. Darrow, an American lawyer known for his involvement in the Leopold and Loeb murder trial and the Scopes "Monkey" trial, completed some of this legal training at the University of Michigan. This book was signed at the Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit, Michigan, shortly after its opening in 1924.
Condition
Gilt lettering on the spine has rubbed and is no longer visible. Minor wear to the binding consistent with age. All pages are in good condition and are free of foxing or moisture damage.
