DAVE MCGARY (1958-2013) BRONZE SCULPTURE H 96", W 35" (AT THE BASE), "AMERICAN HORSE":Dave McGary (American, 1958-2013). "American Horse". A life-size bronze sculpture with patina and paint. Depicting American Horse, the Oglala Sioux chieftain, statesman, educator, and historian. With inscribed signature, dated "1993", and numbered 3/7 to base which measures 35 1/2" x 23 1/2". American Horse was known as a progressive leader who encouraged Western education for his people and friendly associations with the white settlers. He was also one of the first Wild Westerners in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. IN THE CONSIGNMENT AREA. Accompanied by: a personal note signed by Dave McGary, a certificate of authenticity from McGary Studios that is signed by the artist, a registration form for the sculpture from McGary Studios, and the original receipt from Feathers Gallery of Scottsdale, AZ. The lot also includes the book "Dave McGary: American Realism in Bronze" by Michael Duty.
