EMMANUEL FREMIET (1824-1910) GILT BRONZE EQUESTRIAN SCULPTURE OF LOUIS D'ORLEANS H 29 1/2" W 12 3/4" D 4 1/2":Emmanuel Fremiet (French, 1824-1910). Louis d'Orleans on Horseback. A gilt patinated equestrian bronze of Louis d'Orleans in full armor. Incised signature to base.
This bronze is a reduction of the statue of Louis d'Orléans équestre commissioned by the French State for the courtyard of the château de Pierrefonds in 1869.
The jousting tool he carries has been bent towards the tip.
