F. BARBEDIENNE, PARIS BRONZE WALL CLOCK, 19TH.C. H 28", W 24":Cherubs in full relief flank enamel dial with Roman numerals, shell crest. Lion mask at base. "#2188, Ch Boye" clock maker on works. Ferdinand Barbedienne established a prominent foundry in Paris 1810 - 1892 and represented important artists including Antoine Louis Barye and Auguste Rodin.
Dore bronze case is magnificent. Working of clock is unknown. There are hairline cracks on the face, apprpox.1" to 1 1/2" long. These cracks are between the numbers 5 and 10, and between the numbers 10 and 15. At 12 o'clock there is a circular repair to the face approx. a 1/2" in diameter. There is a back plate with the clock. The hinge to the back plate is damaged. Only the face is signed F. Barbedienne.
