Burgundy ground porcelain body of Ovid form with squared shoulders. Having a fluted neck adorned with hand painted thistles on white ground. Each vase is mounted with scrolling ormolu bronze thistle leaf handles that spring from acanthus leaf mounts on the lower body and rejoin the body at the neck. Hand painted cartouches framed with hand painted border of thistle berries amongst leaves. One cartouche displaying a dropped sprig of thistle berries whilst the other depicts a scene of a satyr and cherub. Best quality French bronze mounts. Profusely gilt. Unmarked. Provenance: The estate of a prominent Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe, MI private collector.
