A rare re-strike etching on paper titled "Downtown Detroit" by listed American artist Frederic Valpey Shortwell. This piece depicts a bird's eye view of Randolph Street of downtown Detroit, as it would have appeared in 1933. To the lower center is the Old Wayne County building and to the upper right is Book Tower. Artist's signature, title and date are located to the lower margins in graphite. An embossed seal to the lower left corner reads "JL Hempstead Studios, Chicago."
