In 2014 Brauer Museum of Art at Valparaiso University mounted the first exhibition of his work since his lifetime. INDIANA 1872 - 41. Very nicely done painting needs cleaning to show its true quality. As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame: possibly a dab of overpainting in the LR but probably not - painting is quite dirty (needs cleaning) and it is difficult to see the true colors of it; c. 7/8" tear in the top center in the top left blade of the windmill; overall noticeable craquelure with instability of paint developing; not lined or patched; original stretchers; period or original gilt frame needs cleaning as well.
