GERMAN HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN PORTRAIT CHARGER, 19TH C., DIA 13 1/2", FRAMED:A round porcelain charger hand painted at the well with a bust-length portrait of a young woman wearing a feathered hat, not signed, against a fired gold ground, the border adorned with anthemion, acanthus leaves, and circular reserves enclosing urns; marked in blue under glaze on the reverse with AR bisected by a faint red line, possibly that of Helena Wolfsohn, Dresden (see additional photo). Encased in a custom mahogany frame bordered by satinwood banding, Dia.16 3/4" overall.
Condition
The porcelain is in good condition. The frame has numerous age-related cracks (apparent in the photo).
