IRIS ANDREWS MILLER (MICHIGAN, 1881-1981), OIL ON CANVAS, H 23 3/4", L 19 3/4", PORTRAIT OF A MAN:Signed lower left, framed and dated 1935. Old Detroit label on back. Miller, a Detroit artist, 1881-1981, primarily a portraitist. Studied in New York in the early 20th century with William Merritt Chase and was the first woman ever to receive the Scarab Club Gold Medal Prize in 1929. Possibly depicting her husband, William Norton Miller.
 

Condition

Near the shoulder, there are two very small areas of possible paint loss measuring approx. H 1/4" x W 1/32". Each top corner has one pin head sized hole. Overall, this painting is in good condition.
