IRISH INLAID MAHOGANY SECRETARY BOOKCASE, C.1780- 1810, H 86", W 49", D 23":Featuring an upper section with two glass doors and two shelves. The lower section also has two doors and a faux drawer which opens to reveal a green tooled leather top writing surface, six drawers and nine pigeon compartments.

The condition for the bottom cabinet, of the secretary, is as follows:   The top surface has some scratches and  approx. 8 cracks in the veneer ranging from 5" to 1".   There are also some cracks and  losses to the satin wood trim at the front and sides.  The doors to the lower cabinet have a couple of minor veneer cracks.  The doors open and close properly.  At the bottom apron and legs, there are multiple small chips in the veneer along the edge.  The sides of the cabinet have some cracks to the veneer and losses to the satinwood banding.   The interior of the desk has a crack in the wood that extends the full length of the desk.  This crack is underneath the drawers and pigeon compartments of the desk.  At the back wall of the interior desk, there is another crack that extends approx. 2/3 of the length of the back.  The front drawer that opens to reveal the desk has multiple cracks in the veneer, ranging from approx. 3" to approx. 12".   The condition for the top cabinet of the secretary is as follows:  At the very top, the left side of the cornice is missing.  All of the pointed decorative trim, just under the cornice, is missing from the front and right side of the cabinet and most, of the same trim, is missing from the left side.  There is a 2" piece of satinwood trim missing from the front center of the cornice.   The glass panes, in the doors, are most likely replaced because they do not have the wavy appearance or any air bubbles that are indicative of early 19th century glass.  The doors open and close properly.  The escutcheon at the lock is missing.     TW 2-08-17
