Unsigned. Depicting figures standing amongst Roman ruins. Having a giltwood frame, H 35", W 44.25". Partial wax export seal on the stretcher verso. Provenance: Property from the collection of John Francis Dodge, Co-Founder of the Dodge Brothers Company. By family descent
Early 20th century reline with what appears to be an original stretcher. Overall varnish fluoresces under UV light with overpainting at the extreme edges where the original canvas meets the reline. Small flake in the upper left. Several canvas repairs at the left, center and right of the composition.
