J. E. H. MACDONALD (CANADIAN 1873-1932), OIL ON ARTIST BOARD, H 10", L 12.5", "FIELDS NEAR AURORA":James Edward Hervey MacDonald [Canadian, 1873-1932].  Depicting a fall landscape with birch trees.  Initialed and dated lower right.  Titled on plaque on the frame. James Edward Hervey MacDonald (May 12, 1873 - November 26, 1932), known as J. E. H. MacDonald, was a Canadian artist and one of the founders of the Group of Seven who initiated the first major Canadian national art movement.  Purchased directly from the artist in 1923.  The consignor's mother inherited the painting in 1969 from the estate of her godparents and her godparents family had owned it ever since it was purchased from the artist.

As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame:  UV clean; artwork in good condition but the frame has cracks.
