Collection of Japanese lacquered carved wood objects. Lot includes one planter having relief floral designs, H 19", Dia. 13". Eight covered sake cups, two decorated with gilt pine branches with cranes in flight at the interior of the lids. H 3.25", Dia. 4.75". Two having black grounds with gilt pine branches, cranes in flight at the interiors of the lids, H 3.5", Dia. 4.5". Four decorated with latticework designs, H 3", Dia. 3.75". Four plates having black ground with gilt birds in flight, Dia. 9.5". Five small dishes having brown grounds and decorated with open fans, Dia. 6.75". One covered box, black ground with mountainous river landscape (likely Chinese in origin), H 1.5", W 4", L 5.25". One covered box, black ground with a koi fish under flower blossoms, H 2.5", W 4.5", L 5.75". One hinged box, black ground decorated with a noble and two courtesans at the lid, H 2", W 4.5", L 6.25". One covered box containing five small dishes, black ground with floral designs, H 2.25", Dia. 3.75". One jewelry chest (Chinese in origin), three drawers with lantern and floral designs, H 5.75", W 5", D. 3". One square dish, black ground with musical instruments, 9.5" x 9.5". One underplate, black ground with a scene of musicians, Dia. 9". Four chargers with brown grounds (three with cranes, one with a landscape). Diameters of 16" (3) and 15" (1). Lot also includes two red lacquer sake cup lids.

Condition

Flaking at the exterior of the planter with impact damage at the rim. Repair at the edges of on sake cup. Bubbling of the lacquer at the underside of one of the 9.5" plates. Chipping at the edges of the koi box. Rubbing to the decoration on the lid of the hinged box. Losses at the foot of the musician plate, chipping at the edges as well.
