JAPANESE SATSUMA EARTHENWARE COVERED URN, MEIJI PERIOD, H 22", W 14":A footed urn with hand painted scenes and geometric ornamentation accented by gilt paint and a Fu lion and ball finial. Meiji period (1868-1912). From the estate of Barbara K. Wrigley of Grosse Pointe Farms. Large repairs and restoration noted throughout and to the bottom. There are significant losses to the gilt of the back of the fu lion's mane. One 'spike' at the side of the lion has been repaired.
