JAPANESE, SHIN-GUNTO, WW2, OFFICER'S SWORD, C1940, L 27" BLADE:Japanese Shin-Gunto, ww2 officer's sword. Having a 27" blade, wood scabbard, cloth binding (Ito) over ray skin (Sa-Me). Gilt bronze ornaments (Menuki) and brass end cap (Kashira). Signed on tang along with WW2 era factory stamp (Showa) on opposite side of tang.
Condition
Missing Koiguchi at throat of scabbard, GA. On one side of the blade there is an area of light rust approx. 3/4" in dia. This area is about three inches from the hilt.
Near the tip of the blade there is some light rust approx. 1/2" in length and 1/8" in width.
On both side of the blade there are areas of small light brown spots, ranging from approx. 1/16" to 1/8" in dia.
There are no visible nicks on the edge of the blade. TW 8-4-17
