Signed lower left "J. F. Douthitt". Painted canvas of a winged maiden by a gate. Canvas framed by 6" gold border. From the Grosse Pointe, MI home of John Dodge and Ivy Hawkins Dodge. John Douthitt provided all kinds of decorating and interior design services to wealthy families in New York. The family has had this in storage for over 100 years. The canvas needs to be cleaned and the velvet border needs attention.
