Signed and dated lower right. Frame verso having Exhibition Label from the Second Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting. Nov 27, 1934-Jan 10, 1935. The work is titled on this label and valued $1,500. The return address is Rehn Galleries (Operated by Frank Rehn). Another exhibition label states that the work was then owned by Mrs. Lilian Henkel Haass (1879-1960). Mrs. Haass was an art collector and patron. In addition to her support of the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts (President 1933-1938) and the Detroit Artist Market (where she served on the Board), Mrs. Haass was also Trustee and President of the Detroit Museum of Art Founders Society. Provenance: Rehn Galleries, NY; Mrs. Lilian Henkel Haass; Property from a prominent Birmingham, MI private collector.
