JULIA PARDOE, THE WORKS OF JULIA PARDOE, 1905:Pardoe, Julia (1806-1862). The Works of Julia Pardoe. New York: James Pott & Company, 1905. Orleans Edition. Hand-colored frontispiece in each volume, numerous illustrations throughout. Comprising fifteen volumes, including: The Court and Reign of Francis I, King of France (three volumes), The Life of Marie de Medicis, Queen of France (six volumes), and Louis the Fourteenth, The Court of France in the Seventeenth Century (six volumes). Having three-quarter brown morocco and marble boards, gilt spines with raised bands and decorated with a delicate floral motif, and top edge gilt. Each volume also has a gilt monogram encircled by laurel leaves to front cover. Numbered 5 out of 50 copies printed on Arnold hand-made paper. Mostly uncut pages.
Provenance: From the estate of Daniel Clancy, Voltaire Place, Grosse Pointe Farms.
Please note: each volume has two previous owner bookplates attached to the pastedown. Rubbing to spines and edges of boards. With some minor loss to marbling at edges. Preliminary and terminal pages are slightly toned around edges.
