African carved wood sculpture of two musicians by the Nigerian artist Lamidi Olonade Fakeye. Fakeye received many awards and accolades throughout his career, including being named a UNESCO Living Human Treasure in 2008. Signed on the base. Provenance: Estate of Raymond C. Maison, US Department of State Foreign Service 1955-1982. Maison collected art objects during his service in Europe, the Middle East, Israel, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uganda, Gambia, Ghana, Legos, Nigeria and Thailand.
