Sculpture depicts a young woman receiving the Christian sacrament of Confirmation. She is wearing a head covering, a simple dress, bracelet, and clogs. In the crook of her right arm is a laurel branch. Her hands hold a rosery with a cross. Her face, neck and arms are carved ivory and set within finely finished gilt bronze. Base having a Renaissance brown patina is incised with the artist's signature "A. LEONARD" and the foundry mark from the Les Neveux de Jacques Lehmann foundry, Paris. Above the foundry mark is the impressed cast #19.
