MIKE HAN

Mike Han is a Detroit based artist and designer. Han’s creative practice strives to achieve dynamic balance in art and life by connecting people, places, and purpose through his organic and abstract character line work. His work is an effort to learn how to live well through his meditative process of mark making. Mike draws influence from his Korean heritage, Keith Haring, and modern design.

The painting on this Kartell chair was personal as Mike worked at Katsuya by Starck in LA back in 2007. Mike was drawn to high end sushi as a young chef and admired Starck’s design. He chose white to create a painting that felt integrated and a part of the Ghost chair, instead of something to cover it. He also painted the underside of all surfaces so the chair could be used without damaging the artwork. This attention to create functional art is why he chose to support Humble Design as they seek to improve lives of the homeless through dignified design.
