A mid-1920s Pewabic Pottery earthenware vase of bulbous form with stout neck. Having impressed medallion mark "Pewabic Detroit". Literature: "Pewabic, A Century of Michigan's Art Pottery", illustrated in color, Plate 9. Exhibited: Kresge Art Museum, Michigan State University, October 22 - December 16, 2005. Provenance: From the collection of a major metro Detroit collector of Pewabic Pottery. *Note: whilst the Kresge Museum exhibition catalogue notes that this piece has a uranium glaze, research since publication indicates that this was an experimental piece using lead chromate for the glaze. We would like to thank Anne Dennis and the staff of Pewabic Pottery for their assistance in the research of this item.
