Biörklund's ninth state (of 9); Usticke's seventh state (of 7); White and Boon's ninth state (of 9), probable 17th century impression, with thread margins. A superb, richly-inked impression of this extremely scarce etching, with very strong contrasts and no sign of wear, with crisp, partially inky plate edges, consistent with the earliest impressions of this subject. Literature: Bartsch 165; Biörklund 30-5; Hollstein (White and Boon) 165 Provenance: Merrill Chase Galleries Ltd.
