This firearm was believed to be owned by Jesse James. Included in this lot is a copy from a page of the collection of Dr. Bertrand DeJarnette's firearm collection that was sold in 1970. This firearm was listed in that sale as a pistol that Jesse James had traded for a horse saddle. Also included in this lot is a handwritten letter, dated 1991, that states that this firearm was owned by Jesse James and is signed by Dr. DeJarnette. In addition to the letter, there is also a cut out from a Nebraska City newspaper in which this particular firearm is mentioned and a plaque telling the history of the gun. We cannot guarantee this information and it is the buyer's discretion as to the veracity of these claims. Most of the markings are no longer visible. Serial number on the frame is 133857. There is a pencil inscription to the inside of one of the grips, the name is illegible (J....es) due to wear from the spring but "Nebraska City 1874" is legible. Inspection marks C and S on the frame with marks of G on the cylinder. Six-shot percussion cap with a front blade sight. Brass trigger guard. Total length of 17". Includes a leather holster bearing the name of Victor Heath Reardon.
