Signed and dated in the lower left. 3/4 length portrait of a of a young woman holding flowers. Having a period giltwood and gesso frame, H 47", W 39". Provenance: Ex collection of Monsignor James Hickey (1920-2004), a well known and avid art collector in Southeast Michigan who operated The Art Cloister and opened Hickey's in Grosse Pointe, MI. Monsignor Hickey collected art during his long career and extensive travels.
Condition
Relined canvas. Overall varnish fluoresces under UV light. Professional canvas repairs with associated overpainting in the upper left, below the woman's chin, at the ribbon in her hair, at and above the right hand. at the left forearm and at the extreme edges of the composition.
