ROSENTHAL PORCELAIN FIGURE OF A CELLO PLAYER, C. 1917, H 22", DESIGNED BY KARL HIMMELSTOSS (1878-1967):Modeled as a seated nude male with cello; stamped in green "Rosenthal, Selb-Bavaria" underneath and signed "K. Himmelstoss" in the mold. Measures H.22" x 7" x 12 1/2". Karl Himmelstoss, German, 1878-1967.
A thin crack at the base just under the left foot, approximately 2" long, possibly occurred in process; a small glaze chip at one corner of the base; the cello is missing an upper peg, with a fine crack in the same area.
