The Harvey Memorial Window, dedicated in memory of George C. Harvey, former superintendent of Canton schools and a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Canton, OH. The window is comprised of eight panels commissioned for the 1913 west window installation. The November 9, 1913 Canton Daily News describes the Harvey window as follows: "This window depicts in the distance a mountain with precipitous cliffs. A stream flows from the mountain into a lake in the foreground. On either side is a forest in dark green shades and in the foreground are fields of brightly colored flowers. Cloud effects are a striking feature of the window and was impressive when the sun shines from the west.". Great Gatsby's Auction of Atlanta, GA purchased the First Baptist Church in 1990 and removed four windows, including: Tiffany Studios Danner Memorial Window and three windows commissioned from Rudy Brothers (including the Harvey Window). The four windows were sold by Great Gatsby's at auction in 1990. Stan Aldridge purchased this window from that sale and installed it in the Wedding Chapel of Canterbury Village, Lake Orion, MI - where it has remained until its removal for this sale. Panel sizes: Large central panel: H 89", W 54". Central arched panel: H 32", W 55". Flanking vertical panels: H 84", W 24.5". Four curved panels at the top: H 25", W 41.5" (at the widest points). We would like to thank Wayne Boucher, whose scholarship allowed for a conclusive attribution. See documentation in photographs. Provenance: Rudy Brothers, Pittsburgh, PA for First Baptist Church, Canton, OH. 1913. Great Gatsby's, Atlanta, GA, 1990. Stan "Mr. A" Aldridge. 1991. Installed in the the Chapel at Alsridge's Canterbury Village, Lake Orion, MI. | Please note this lot is quite heavy. DuMouchelles is happy to provide curbside pickup services. Condition

Whilst the majority of the panels show normal signs of age with flaking lead and cracked panels. It was noted on removal from Canterbury Village Chapel that the exterior protective window frames had deteriorated - allowing the elements to come in contact with leading and glass of the window. This is especially the case with the lower right panel. Therefore, it is suggested that potential bidders inspect the window in person. The lower portion, having religious connotations, was not sold as part of the offering at the Great Gatsby sale of 1990 and its wherabouts are unknown. | Please note all lots show signs of wear commensurate with age and use, and the lack of a statement regarding condition does not imply the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from defects or the effects of aging. Unless otherwise stated, all information provided is the opinion of DuMouchelles' specialists. Should you have any specific questions regarding the condition of this lot, please use the “Request Condition Report” or “Ask a Question” buttons or email conditions@dumoart.com.
