Each having original finial and cover on baluster form vases with fired gold and enamel floral sprays interlaced with garlands. Each vase having continuous hand painted center panels. One depicting country courting couple in a rural landscape. The other depicts elegantly dressed courting couples in garden landscapes. Mercury gilded bronze ormolu mounts. Each undermarked at base with entwined Sevres "L's" with the date mark BB - dating their production to 1779. Provenance: Property from the collection of John Francis Dodge, Co-Founder of the Dodge Brothers Company. By family descent

Condition

Losses to enameling at neck throughout. Fired gold remains. Every part of these vases is original with the exception of the threaded rod that joins base, body, and cover. The stem was added to the original bouquet finials so as to accomodate the threading of the replacement rod.
