STUDIO OF ADRIAEN ISENBRANT (FLEMISH, 1490-1551), TRIPTYCH, OIL ON OAK PANEL, "CORONATION OF THE VIRGIN": Depicting the Coronation of the Virgin. Unsigned. Mounted in a hinged metal frame attached to gilt wood frame. The center panel measures H. 14" x 10", with the outer panels measuring H. 14" x 3 3/4".  Cancelled blue and black stamp on verso as well as an illegible, unidentified incised circular seal (see photo details).   Ex. Collection Edward F. Fisher, Detroit Michigan (of Fisher Body).  Reference:  Max J. Friedlander, "The Antwerp Mannerists Adriaen Ysenbrant", p. 82.

Condition

As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame:  great quality and detail; c. 5-10% restoration, including in, but not limited to, the face of the angel on the left, his robe and the his hand holding the neck of the lute, around the head of the figure in the right panel, etc.; some of the paint is thinly applied such as on the verso of the side panels so you can see the drawing that was under the paint; side panels appear to have been reduced as was the top of the center pane; on the original c. 1/4" thick oak panels; some stable, fine craquelure;  metal part of the framing is 20th c.; wear to velvet liner; modern outer frame.
