Instrument for intimate occasions used by the Toba Batak people of northern Sumatra. Hand-carved terminal of seated male. Two strings. Case carved of single piece of wood with soundboard (with the form of a heart cut out) and back panel of differing wood. Near identical instrument is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum.
