TOYOHARA KUNICHIKA (JAPANESE, 1835-1900), COLOR WOODBLOCK PRINT, 1865, H 13 7/8", W 27 5/8":Toyohara Kunichika (Japanese, 1835-1900). "Actors Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Jirai Taro ®, Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Tennichibo ©, and Iwai Shijaku II as Hitomaru Oroku (L)". 1865. Woodblock print with ink and color on paper. A vertical oban triptych depicting lead kabuki actors of the artist's day. With signature, censor's seal, and blockcutter's mark to each. Total height 13 7/8", total width 27 5/8".

Condition

Appears to be in basic good condition with no visible repairs, with surface dirt, light handling creases, corners dog-eared, and light toning throughout.
