HAND-COLORED FENIAN POSTERS, H 33", L 25 1/2":The first titled "The Sunburst of Ireland", published by Haais & Lubrecht, New York, circa 1870's, depicting Hibernia holding the "Standard of Emerald" (a green harp flag) surrounded by various portraits of Irish leaders, above scenes from Irish history; and the second titled "Ireland's Hope", depicting Hibernia holding a green harp flag, standing in front of various symbolic items, including portraits of Robert Emmet and Thomas Moore, above various Irish Independence songs and leaders. Both framed under glass.
Condition
Both posters having even toning, some fading, numerous scattered tears and small losses throughout, and some minor losses and chipping to frame. "Ireland's Hope" having dark discoloration to lower right corner.
